Dedicated to Friends, Past and Present

 Having lived a full life, Betty Barnett entered the Kingdom of Heaven December 28th at age 97. 

Betty was born October 25th, 1927, in Hapeville, Ga. Where she lived most of her life. After eight decades she left an undeniable 
mark on the community. She worked at Hapeville High, Southern Airlines. She was a Olympics 1996 volunteer, member of the 
Exchangettes, Service League, Chairman of Hapeville Centennial Celebration, Hapeville Council member for eight years, eventually serving as Mayor for a season. She delivered Meals on Wheels for over 10 years until she was 92. A lifelong member of Hapeville Methodist church, she served in every capacity on the Board and taught Sunday School. 

Betty was an experience seamstress and woodworker. She traveled with her husband Hansel intensely for years visiting most of 
the 50 states, European countries, China, Korea, Australia.  She was the youngest of six children of Robert and Clara 
McCord. She was preceded in death by her parents, all five siblings, and her husband Hansel. 

Betty is survived by her four adult children Eleanor Barnett (Bobby), Jeanne Fowler (Terry), Suzanne Schroeder (Charlie), David 
Barnett (Debbie). She leaves behind her beloved fourteen grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren. 

A celebration of life will be given Saturday, January 4, 2025 at Hapeville Methodist Church with Pastor Johnson officiating and Mayor Alan Hallman speaking. Visitation with the family will be from 1-2 pm with the service starting at 2pm. In lieu of flowers a donation to one of the organizations dear to Betty’s heart would be fine. DIGS. Betty will be buried at College Park Cemetery next to her husband Hansel.
