David Wayne Turner, age 72, of McDonough, GA passed away July 4, 2014. He was born in Forest Park, GA the son of the late Edna Sodeikes and William Turner. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sandra Marie Waller Turner; daughters, Rhonda Turner Daum and Daundra Turner Fletcher and her husband Chris Fletcher; grandchildren, Chris Daum and Ashley Fletcher; great grandson, Caleb Booth; and mother-in-law, Marie White Waller. He graduated from Forest Park High School in 1959, and enlisted in the US Army where he served proudly from 1960 -1962. Mr. Turner worked and retired from Northwest Airlines where he was an inspector. He was also a real estate broker. He loved spending time with his family and friends, racing, working on cars, building hot rods and motorcycles and attending car shows, where he won many trophies. He also loved fishing and treasure hunting with his buddy/great grandson Caleb. Throughout his life he raced motorcycles, sprint cars, vintage cars, race cars and midgets. Mr. Turner liked building things that his children and the entire neighborhood could enjoy. He had many life-long friends who he cherished. Mr. Turner is a member of Eagles Landing First Baptist Church in McDonough. His love of his wife and family was apparent to everyone and he never missed an opportunity to share stories, his experiences and knowledge. The love and respect shown by everyone was a tribute to his life and he will be greatly missed. A celebration of David’s life will be held Graveside at Sherwood Memorial Park with Rev. Dr. Tim Dowdy officiating on Monday, July 7, 2014 – 11:00 AM. The family will receive friends at Haisten Funerals Home, 1745 Zack Hinton Parkway S., McDonough, Georgia 30253 on Saturday from 6 – 8:00 PM and on Sunday from 2 – 5:00 PM.
