Edward  Dewey Smith
July 5, 1950 – October 1, 2013

Funeral services forEdward Dewey Smith, 63, of Calvary, GA, are at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 4, 2013, at the Calvary Baptist Church, Calvary, GA.  Rev. Keith Beck will officiate.  Interment will be in Piedmont Cemetery, Calvary, GA.  Mr. Smith passed away at his home in Calvary, GA, on Tuesday, October 1, 2013.  Active pallbearers will be Myron Jones, Gene Jones, Sammy Perkins, Russell Carter, Donald Dalton, and Clay Dalton. Mr. Smith was born on July 5, 1950, in Atlanta, GA, to the late Dewey Needham Smith and Margaret Jones Smith.  He served his country in the United States Air Force.  He was married to Melissa Sanders Smith, who survives.  He worked as a Customer Service Agent with Southern Airways. He was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include: wife, Melissa Sanders Smith of Calvary, GA; son, Thomas David Frain (Ashley) of Hernando, MS; grandchildren, Elijah Frain of Hernando, MS, Sarah Frain of Hernando, MS; nephews, William Matthew Frain of Hernando, MS, Joshua George Frain (Jackie) of Memphis, TN, Michael Murphy (Kellee) of Atlanta, GA; niece, Melanie Murphy Knight (Ashley) of Whigham, GA; great-nephews Eli and Ethan Knight both of Whigham, GA; great-niece Reagan Murphy of Atlanta, GA; and a  brother, Harvey Mack Smith of Boca Raton, FL. He was preceded in death by: his parents, Dewey and Margaret Smith; and a sister, Karen Smith Murphy. Memorials may be made in Mr. Smith's memory to: the Wounded Warrior Project, P. O. Box 7, Calvary, GA  39829. The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Thursday, October 3, 2013, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
