Dedicated to Friends, Past and Present

Eleanor Anne Posey Hall, "Grandmother," passed peacefully Thursday, October 21, 2010 from the effects of Alzheimer's disease. The daughter of Bessie Laster Posey and Thomas Berry Posey, Eleanor Anne was born in Birmingham, Alabama on March 26, 1921 - a birthday that she shared with her beloved husband Graydon. Eleanor and Graydon began a life journey together on August 9, 1941 with a simple at-home wedding. From that day forward they simply loved and cherished each other for more than 69 years. Together Eleanor and Graydon won a world war, built a Christian home, established the passenger air service industry, and left to their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren a legacy of love, honor and service. They are "the Greatest Generation." A professional homemaker and helpmate, Eleanor strove for perfection with elegance and grace, putting the needs of family and friends first. She was the most energetic cheerleader, the most determined advocate, the most daring adventurer, and the most genuine Lady of The South. Eleanor's career as wife and mother took her across five states with Graydon. She made each new stop "home" for her family, becoming active in community, Church and school affairs of her children. She inherited the capacity to trail-blaze from ancestors that were pioneer families active in transportation in North Alabama. Her paternal grandfather established a wagon train freight service across Alabama in the 19th century, and her maternal great-grandfather ran a local transfer service around the Birmingham area during the same period. Eleanor was most "at home," however, in Atlanta and there she will be laid to rest at Arlington Memorial Gardens. Eleanor leaves to journey alongside Graydon their family -- Judith Posey Hall and her fiancé Larry Ellis Lanier, Graydon Hall, Jr. and his wife Elisabeth Meyers Hall, grandchildren Scott Harrison Russell and his wife Mandy Holland Russell and daughter Sara Eleanor Russell; Ashley Sarah Hall, Jonathan Graydon Hall and his wife Jessica Cie Hall and daughter Madison Elisabeth Hall. The Hall family extends their deep appreciation to the loving caregivers provided by Annie Wilson - Johnnie Mae, Bessie, Marilyn, Hitasha, and Tracy - and to the Rose and Red Teams of Community Hospice of Northeast Florida. The Funeral service will be held at H M Patterson & Son, Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Rd, Sandy Springs, at 3 p.m. Sunday, October 24, 2010 with Dr. Steve Huntley officiating. Interment will follow at Arlington Memorial Gardens. The family will greet friends at a reception following services at the Capital City Country Club, 53 W. Brookhaven Dr. NE. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made in Eleanor's name to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida, 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, FL 32257. Arrangements are entrusted to H M Patterson & Son Arlington. Published in The Atlanta Journal-Constitution from October 23 to October 24, 2010.
