Lawrence (Larry) Block passed away on September 18, 2011 after a 5 week battle with pancreatic cancer.  Larry was 58 years old.  Born on November 20, 1952 and raised in Chicago. Larry received his technical training at Lewis College (now Lewis University) in Romeoville, Illinois.  He completed his training and joined Southern Airways in 1972.  First working out of Midway Airport in Chicago, then Atlanta, then Miami and eventually settling back in Atlanta for about 25 years, where he lived until the closing of the station under Northwest Airlines when he transferred to O'Hare Airport in Chicago.  Post the strike, Larry returned to work, briefly, working out of Minneapolis until he retired at age 55 and returned to Chicago. Larry is survived by his mother Rita Block, his brother Arthur Block and his sister Anita Block Hope.  Though he had no children of his own, Larry was a very cool uncle to Mark Hope and Elinore Hope. Visitation be at Brady-Gill Funeral Home in Evergreen Park, Illinois on Wednesday, September 21, 2011 from 4pm to 8pm.  A chapel service held at Brady-Gill Funeral Home  on Thursday, September 22, 2011 at 10:30 am with interment following at Resurrection Cemetery, Justice, Illinois.  Memorials may be made to St. Joseph's Indian School in Chamberlain, SD 57326.     Thank you, Anita Block Hope.
