Obituary

Mr. Ridley Lane Bassett (R.L.), 81 of Alabama peacefully passed away Monday, July 13, 2020, surrounded by his family.  Mr. Bassett was born September 17, 1938 to the late Ridley Hudson Bassett and the late Lillian Milam Bassett.  Ridley was a Veteran of War and served in the United States Army.  He retired as a mechanic from Northwest Airlines (Delta) and was a Founder of Liberty Baptist Tabernacle in Stockbridge.  Ridley enjoyed old cars, antiques, Coca-Cola memorabilia, trains and working in his summer gardens. Above all, Ridley was a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend.  He will forever be remembered and cherished in our hearts.

Survivors include son, Jeffrey (Leslie) West; daughter, Beth Goss; daughter Lori (Philip) Jones; grandchildren, Austin (Marleigh) Goss, Alex (Jessica) Goss, Ansley Goss, Cameron Goss, Brandon Goss, Olivia O’Neill, Jared Jones and Jenna Jones; great-grandchildren, Ridley Goss and Reid O’Neill; brother, Thomas Bassett; sister-in-law, Ramona Bassett and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

Graveside service for Mr. Bassett will be conducted Friday, July 17, 2020, 11:00 am at Rehoboth Baptist Church Cemetery in Griffin.  Rev. Glenn W. Anderson will officiate.
